Essential oils can transform ordinary cooking into a chef‘s dream with great simplicity. However it is important to make sure that you are using therapeutic grade oils, not anything adulterated or impure. Organic oils are best whenever possible. You can be endlessly creative in this area. Here are a few suggestions to get you started. The herbal essential oils are great to add to savory dishes such as casseroles, stir-frys and meat dishes. They are very strong, so be conservative. Sometimes a drop is all you need. Experiment with basil, sage, rosemary and the like. Breads can also be enhanced. Rosemary/olive sourdough could be spiced up with a little rosemary essential oil, or try bread with orange oil for a more festive flavor. Whenever a recipe calls for lemon juice, consider a drop or two of lemon essential oil instead. Lemon butter is delicious made in this way as a topping for vegetables and fish. Teas taste much more alive with a drop or two of essential oil. Try 1 drop peppermint in your next cup of peppermint or citrus tea. You might also enjoy iced teas with a more floral flavor such as rose. Rose lemonade is exquisite with a little added honey.

Add a drop or two of spearmint to a potato salad. Try a drop of ginger with your vegetables. Mix 2 drops lemon in with a fish marinade.

Add 1 drop rosemary to your fried potatoes. Add excitement to chocolate mousse with a little peppermint. Spice up Thai soup with a drop of lemongrass. Combine ginger and orange essential oils for all sorts of marinades.
